Cheltenham

Cheltenham is both a fascinating town in its own right, and an excellent centre for touring the Cotswold region and beyond. The family and staff at Badger Towers are happy to advise on different local attractions and villages.

Cheltenham is famous for its handsome Regency architecture, broad avenues and fine parks. It became prosperous after the discovery in the 1730's of medicinal waters - still available to curious visitors.

Many events take place in Cheltenham through the year, not least:

  • the Cheltenham Festival (horse racing)
  • Summer Cricket Festival
  • Music Festival
  • Literature Festival

Cheltenham also has an excellent shopping centre which is within easy reach of the hotel, and an extensive range of restaurants and public houses. Restaurants nearby include:

  • The Hewlett (200 yards)
  • The Kings Arms, Prestbury Village (1 mile)
  • Le Petit Blanc (1.5 miles)
  • Le Champignon Sauvage (1.5 miles)
  • Svea, Swedish Cafe (1.5 miles)
  • The Royal Oak (1 mile)

Cheltenham's High Street was voted the most popular High Street in England in 2005. There are many excellent shops and the promenade is famous for its elegant architecture and parks. Cheltenham also hosts many fine restaurants; some are amongst the finest in England, appealing to a wide variety of tastes.
